Occupational Therapy addresses the physical, cognitive, psychosocial, sensory-perceptual and other aspects of performance in a variety of environments to support engagement in occupations that affect physical and mental health, well-being and quality of life.
As Occupational therapists, we look at the whole child and assess their needs and or limitations. From here, we then work with each patient and family to establish a plan of care and goals. It is important that the therapist and family all work together towards the common goal.
Pediatric OT uses therapeutic activities (self-care, play, education and social interaction) to promote growth and skills in the area of need. Home education is a vital role in this process to not only help the child but also work with each family member.
